Open swapFXswapFX is a Progressive Web App (PWA). It provides a native app experience directly from your browser—meaning no app store downloads, no bloatware, and instant access to updates.
Installing swapFX removes the browser URL bar for a clean, distraction-free interface. Most importantly, it locks in the app's offline caching, guaranteeing it will open instantly even when you are on an airplane, in a subway, or out of cellular range.
Standard market rates are great for baselines, but they rarely match the "street rate" you get at a physical currency exchange kiosk. swapFX solves this by offering two distinct modes inside the settings panel.
When you need a general idea of global exchange rates, switch to Live Auto-Rate.
When you are standing in a physical shop or kiosk, the real-world exchange rate usually includes a commission or markup. This is where Manual Override comes in.
swapFX has been engineered with features designed specifically for real-world travel, taking the friction out of foreign math.
Looking for a specific currency (like the Guatemalan Quetzal)? Just start typing in the currency search box. swapFX features Live Searching—the conversion math instantly updates as you type the currency code or name, without you even needing to click the dropdown!
At a restaurant? Tap the +10%, +15%, +20%, or +25% buttons above the keypad. A beautiful, translucent receipt overlay will instantly appear right over your display. It provides a clean breakdown of the Bill Amount, Tip Amount, and Total in the local currency (perfect for copying onto your receipt), along with your home currency equivalent. Tap the 0% button or hit the backspace key to instantly dismiss the overlay.
Not dealing with foreign exchange today? If you open the settings (⚙️) and set both currencies to the exact same option (e.g., USD → USD), swapFX intelligently transforms. It hides all conversion rates and secondary lines, giving you a dedicated, single-currency tip calculator with a massive, bold display.
Don't waste time searching for the same currencies over and over. The app automatically remembers your 3 most recently used currency pairs. Simply tap the visual "flag chips" above the keypad to instantly swap to a recent pair. Want to clear your history? Just tap the "×" on any chip to remove it.
Hopping across borders or constantly converting back to your home currency? Open the Settings (⚙️) and select a currency under Backpacker Mode. A third result row will instantly appear, allowing you to view conversions across three different currencies simultaneously.
We've made the app feel like a premium, native calculator. On supported Android devices, the custom keypad provides subtle physical "ticks" (vibrations) as you type—and now features specialized haptic support for newer iPhones (iOS 18+) using a clever native web trick. Plus, the text sizes automatically scale and adjust to perfectly fit any mobile screen, no matter how large the numbers get.

At swapFX, your privacy is our absolute priority. Because our application is designed as a standalone travel utility, we have engineered it from the ground up to operate without collecting Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
swapFX is a client-side application. This means:
To provide a seamless offline experience, swapFX uses your browser's Local Storage to save your app preferences (such as your recently used currency pairs and manual override rates). This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to our servers, and it can be wiped at any time by clearing your browser cache.
To understand the global reach of our tool, the app makes a single, anonymous ping to our server exclusively to increment an aggregate "install counter." This request contains no identifying information, no IP tracking logs are maintained for this purpose, and it cannot be traced back to a specific user.
Because swapFX does not collect, process, or store any Personal Data, we inherently comply with the strictest interpretations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

swapFX is provided as an informational travel utility tool. It allows users to estimate currency conversions and calculate tips locally on their devices.
The "Manual Override" feature allows users to input their own exchange rates. You are solely responsible for ensuring the mathematical accuracy of any custom rates you enter into the application. We are not responsible for math errors resulting from incorrect user inputs.
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis.
All coding, design, interfaces, and branding associated with swapFX are the intellectual property of Robert Watcher Photography & Design. You may not reverse-engineer, copy, distribute, or commercially exploit the underlying code or design of this application without explicit written permission.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the application following any changes indicates your acceptance of the new Terms.
